Years doing CrossFit: 7

Least favorite movement: assault bike, Snatch, front squats
What made you start CrossFit? Peer pressure from husband and friends. Only signed up to
prove that in fact I could NOT do it. Whoops.
What do you enjoy most about CrossFit? Workouts are always varied – and having a
community that cares. I don’t have to be the best. I just have to be the best me.
How has CrossFit affected your everyday life? More conscious of the need to move, and stretch
and stay active – helps with endurance. Before Crossfit – I had never ran a mile. One of our
first WODS, we had to run a mile for time. I ran a mile. First time – and I was 45 years old. I
cried. I signed up for a 5k, then a 10k, then a half, then a marathon – now, I am an ultra
runner. My furthest distance thus far in one outing is 68.5 miles. The good Lord willing – this
summer – I am going to finish 75 miles in 24 hours.
What are some of your current CrossFit goals? To keep showing up and staying active to give
me the best chance to enjoy health and longevity for an active lifestyle of running, hiking,
playing w grandkids and dogs.
What is your proudest CrossFit moment? I have unwillingly participated in 2 crossfit
competitions. Once – came in next to last – and the other time – dead last. Felt like a winner.
Went above and beyond my comfort zone and did every movement – and weight that was in
my category. I can’t imagine what the actual winners felt like – because just doing it was
awesome – it wasn’t a feeling of “oh, look what I did” it was more – “ Look what I was able to
When you aren’t at CrossFit Enhance, what is your favorite thing to do? Read non fiction.
Always have a good book – and a lists of books waiting. I love to cook and feed people. I am a
big fan of Sunday afternoon naps. Very involved in our church and youth and trying to show
others the love of Christ. Any time with my children and grand daughter is a day well spent.
What would say to someone considering to join CFE? If I can – anyone can. The saying is true-
just show up. Be the best you that you can be. We only get one body.
