Years doing CrossFit: 8 years

Favorite movement: anything involving a barbell (O Lifts, Deadlifts, Squats, etc.)

Least favorite movement: Bar Facing Burpees

 

What made you start CrossFit?

I had previously been an active person, whether lifting weights or running, since I was 14 years old.  I played every sport that I could in high school and was looking for something different.  My workouts had become monotonous and felt like more of a chore than anything else.  I was working in ICU around 2011 and had a friend and co-worker that was going to CFE.  He invited me to a partner WOD and I’ve been hooked ever since.   

 

What do you enjoy most about CrossFit?

The thing I enjoy about CrossFit is the community of people, the atmosphere, and the challenge it presents. I would never work this hard outside of CrossFit, had I been going to a regular gym.  CrossFit has provided a challenge to make myself better every day.  I like the competition and sense of comradery as well.  I love the “sport” of CrossFit and the health benefits it provides.

 

 

How has CrossFit affected your everyday life?

I’m stronger and healthier because of CrossFit.  I notice it most in outdoor activities and recreational sports, like the local alumni basketball tournament that I play in, or hiking in the mountains or dragging Bambi out of the timber (I really need a 4 wheeler).  I can keep up with the young bucks that are half my age. 

  

What are some of your current CrossFit goals?

I think for the most part, I have this weightlifting thing down (although, one can never be too strong).  For me, I really need to focus on developing that “motor” through metabolic conditioning.  I would really like to get involved in more competitions.

 

What is your proudest CrossFit moment?

I’ve  PR’d every single lift this year, whether traditional lift or Olympic lift.  I had been chasing a 225# snatch for over a year now.  I finally hit it.

 

When you aren’t at CrossFit Enhance, what is your favorite thing to do?

My absolute favorite thing to do is be outdoors.  Whether its hunting, hiking, boating or just enjoying an adult beverage on a warm summer day.  Its even better when my time is spent outdoors with my wife and kids.

  

What would say to someone considering to join CFE? 

Come drink the Kool-Aid!  I promise you, you won’t regret it.
